Служба национальной статистики, Национальная статистическая служба Великобритании (исполнительное агентство министерства финансов, занимающееся статистической и регистрационной деятельностью, напр., регистрацией актов гражданского состояния; основная задача службы — сбор и систематизация данных по основным экономическим и социальным проблемам; эти данные в дальнейшем используются правительством для организации и контроля своей деятельности; служба также поддерживает базу источников информации, как для собственных целей, так и для предоставления компаниям и исследовательским организациям; таким образом она способствует тому, что каждый желающий может иметь доступ к статистической информации для оценки ситуации в стране, деятельности правительства и т. д.; образована в 1996 г. в результате слияния Центрального статистического бюро и Бюро переписи населения и социологических исследований)
